Tony's 1964 D-100 Truck Project

For
those of you who do not know the history of this truck, it was Tony's father
Kenny who started the creation of "Super Truck" in the late 1970's.
Ken Fisher set out to to build a hotrod 1964 Dodge truck. The truck came into
the family in the early 70's as a long bed 3/4 ton work horse. Furthermore
the truck is a special limited production Custom Sport Special, which was one of
the first "Image" trucks Dodge released.
He had found a short wide bed from a wrecking yard in South Corvallis, but when he went to
pick up the truck bed, it had already been sold. He settled for a
Chevy step side bed for the time being for his hot rod truck. The Fisher
family knew the truck as "Super Truck". For Tony, his first ride down the
Woodburn Dragstrip was inside the cab of Super Truck with his father Ken, at the
age of 12. For Ma Fisher, she remembers driving her brothers Johnny & Del
in Super Truck to the market while they were in Corvallis visiting from
California.
None
the less, the truck has sat for the past twelve years. Tony managed to get
it engine running again in May of 1999, but since the passing of Kenny the truck
has been in storage ever since.
In
the summer of 2008, Tony set out to complete what his father had started
back in 1979-80. He was able to locate a short wide Dodge
truck bed to start the restoration of Super Truck. For those of you who
know Tony, you know he has two cherished Plymouth Barracudas, the 1971 yellow Cuda which was completed in 2004 and the 1973 purple Cuda which was completed in
2006. The word "completed" is used liberally, because we all know that
every hot rod can be improved and enhanced to run a faster 1/4 mile time.
Tony
is designing Super Truck to be an "every day" driver hot rod. 440 cu in
engine, 727 automatic, narrowed Dana 60 rear end, with Mickie
Thompson Sportsman Radial Tires 29x18.5 and 15x15 wheels in the rear, and last
but not least power steering so Ma Fisher can run customers to and from their
appointments.
Here
are some photos of the Super Truck throughout its restoration process.
Don't hesitate to stop by and check out Super Truck for yourself at Ken Fisher

history of Super Truck!
